We are so happy to have A’Kos, our son Kender’s autism service dog, as part of our family. Kender was born in 2008 and is both blind and autistic. Because of the various difficulties he faces, A’Kos is a huge benefit and comfort to him and to the whole family, providing
developmental guidance and security, as well as tethering and tracking services when we are away from home. Service dogs typically cost about $22,000 to train and place. Because Kender is also blind, there was only one agency that was willing to give him an autism service dog, 4 Paws for Ability, and they required us to fundraise $13,000 in order for Kender to qualify. Now that our fundraising efforts are over and A’Kos is home with us, we ask that any donations you would like to make be made directly to 4 Paws for Ability or one of the other families currently fundraising. Every
little bit counts. Some of Kender’s t-shirts are still available for $15 each, and can be purchased in person or by using the Donate button below. Proceeds from these sales will go toward the ongoing expenses associated with a service dog, such as food, veterinary care, and other supplies.
If you would like to follow Kender’s progress and maybe even help out, like our Facebook page.
