I have to tell about the first house we looked at on Saturday. This was another “whatta deal” house. 2500+ sq ft above4-5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, full basement, 1-2 acres, great deal. We were thinking that we’d put an offer down unless we saw something seriously wrong with it, but the realtors kept telling us that FHA would want $10,000 of work done to it before they would approve it.
Well, we’ve actually put a contract offer down on a house. It happened so suddenly, I think my head is still spinning.
For the last two months or so, we’ve been trying to buy a particular house here in town. It was a wonderful deal. The owner’s mother had died and left him her house, so he didn’t need to make money on this one, just pay off his mortgage. So we were going to get it for under market value, making it doubly easy to get a zero-down mortgage, because we’d walk into the house with equity.
Liam is out of his crib! Elayne brought up one of our toddler beds today and put it together, and the crib has returned to storage in the basement. Liam was thrilled, and would go lie down on his bed whenever we mentioned it to him today. So far, so good for bedtime; as of this writing it’s been more than 15 minutes since lights out, and he hasn’t gotten up yet!
