Vision

We have a lot of experience in our family with vision.  I have been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old.  I am extremely nearsighted, and as a child my vision deteriorated so rapidly that I needed new glasses every six months.  I’ve watched the same progression in my son Liam.  Brian was born blind, and four of our children ended up inheriting the same condition.  Over the years, we have collectively dealt with glasses, contacts, cataracts, glaucoma, nystagmus, retinal detachment, laser surgery, corneal scars, retinal folds, astygmatism, strabismus, lazy eye, leaky retinas, and more.  I’ve watched ophthalmologists approach Brian in bars and ask to look at his eyes just for fun.  We’ve dealt with probably as many incompetent doctors and misdiagnoses in our eyes alone as we have with the entire rest of our bodies!

On these pages, I will share what I have learned about eyes, vision, and retinal diseases.  Please remember that I am not a doctor and I cannot legally offer medical advice.  Medicine and science are hobbies for me, and I merely offer here what I have experienced and what has worked for me and mine.  I am happy to answer any questions.
